I eventually figured out one way to solve the issue, which worked for me and a couple of others, and someone else found another approach, which worked for some of the rest. I posted about that on the official Bioware forums, and got a chorus of people having exactly the same problem (namely, that Mass Effect didn't believe we had internet and wouldn't let us start the game). I bought the game yesterday, and was unable to play it due to DRM issues. Would be nice doh to know if any graphs will be or not modified for ME2, so i could buy the things for the pc accoringly. I hope bioware releases an un-drm version later, atleast till then, i myself spared the cash for the pc upgrade It was like trying to drink the ocean, or trying to reach the moon, with juming. When i hunted for torrent sites i realized how nonsense my job is, that is one of the causes why i left it. There is no way a developer can defeat the torrenters and such, only way would be to solve this: inbuilt chips into the PC The game 'darkstar1' between others also had 'buildin bugs' for the crackers, but in less than 2 months they released a version that solved it. But I dont think there is any chance of ME PC going the same way as TitanQuest, as the cash is already in the bank from the 360 sales.īut there is no doubt that the DRM and the bug-rumours comming from the pirated versions will scare alot of potential customers off. I'm posting the rant here because the ME forums are being heavily edited and controlled by Bioware's militant moderators. It's like you've become Candlekeep in Chapter 6 of your own Baldur's Gate: a bunch of doppelgangers. I don't recognize the current outfit carrying your name. Of course that'll change once EA buys everyone out. Thankfully there are plenty of games out there that don't have this crap in them. That's a lame excuse to slap us with online activation, especially online activation that must be done every time the game is installed, for a limited number of times. Jay's post makes me think someone in upper management has been handing out frontal lobotomies. If they're still behaving like the Chinese government when it comes time to release Dragon Age, I'll have to pass on that game as well.
